Questions
- How do I make a payment?
- You pay when you book, never before. For a fixed-price service you pay by card at checkout. For a job you posted, you pay when you accept a quote: accepting places the order, and the order page asks for your card. If a business offers an estimate visit or a service call, you pay that fee when you book it, and it comes off the business's price if you hire them for the work. The total is shown before you pay: the business's price plus the 5% Loclis service fee. Cards are processed by Stripe, and Loclis collects the payment as the business's agent. An order left unpaid for 24 hours is cancelled.
- Who serves my town?
- Every Virginia county, city and town has a page in the Loclis directory (loclis.com/d) listing the licensed businesses there by trade, taken from the state's DPOR licence register. To hear from them, describe your job once at loclis.com/jobs/new: Loclis tells licensed businesses near you and they send quotes. A business with its own shop on Loclis lists the towns it covers on its shop page.
- Do I need an account to browse?
- No. You can search, compare providers and read every service page without signing up. An account is needed to book, subscribe or message a provider.
- How does Loclis make money?
- A 5% Loclis service fee at customer checkout, and a 10% booking and payment fee that providers pay for Loclis's booking and payment collection services. Nothing else: no leads, no listing fees, no advertising.
- Who actually does the work?
- Independent local businesses. Each provider sells and does its own work, at its own price, and you contract with it directly. Loclis runs the marketplace and collects payment as the provider's agent. It does not do, manage or supervise the work, and you see exactly which business you are buying from before you pay.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Cancel from your dashboard. Cancellation and refund terms are shown on the order, and Loclis reverses both fees proportionally on any refund.
- What if a job goes wrong?
- Open a dispute from the order. Loclis reads both sides and can refund all or part of what you paid. It may also choose to refund its own fees on a job that went wrong. That is not insurance and not a promise about the provider's work.
- Where does Loclis operate?
- Loclis serves all of Virginia. It launched in the New River Valley and is built to expand market by market (state, region, city, service) using the same structure.
